Mixed media and collages are often influenced by different aspects of urban life, a visual exploration of the urban experience where shape and forms appear and retreat. Ideas and inspiration may be found in any number of everyday activities:
seeing street patterns and marks, looking at people from the window of a bus, reading a line of verse or prose, listening to music and lyrics, following the news.
Working with a mix of found images from newspapers and magazines and recycled or specially made prints and drawings, papers are chosen by shape, colour, pattern and gestural marks. Layers of visual information are gradually built up in this way, to some extent to echo the process of change, repairing and rebuilding in urban life.
